The “Eros Bendato” (Eros Bound) or as it’s known locally “The Head” has become one of Krakow’s most popular tourist attractions. Set in the medieval old market square (The Rynek Glowny) of Poland’s second biggest city, which also boast the largest Market square in Europe!
The Late Polish artist Igor Mitoraj (1944 – 2014) donated his sculpture to the city of Krakow at the turn of the century. This caused a bit controversy though, because no one knew where to put the artist’s gift. Despite small protests from local historians and locals alike, the giant bronze head can now be found by the town hall tower on the old market square. I must admit it is quite unusual been a modern piece of art that’s surrounded by beautiful medieval buildings! But it is a very popular attraction, which has now even captured the local’s enthusiasm.
